Rob learnt his computing while studying Earth Sciences at Sheffield, Manchester and Utrecht Universities. He has a PhD in experimental rock deformation from Utrecht University. Rob founded the Utrecht University Linux User Group in 1998 while working on a post-doc. Between 1999 and 2002 he worked as a Solaris trainer and later as Education Consultant for Sun Microsystems Nederland. From 2002 to 2005 he was UNIX Specialist at the CIM, Utrecht University. Rob returned to the UK for a year in 2007 working as an operations consultant for Equifax. Rob has worked as an independent Solution Integrator since 2005 and is currently building wholesale channels for an international bank in Amsterdam.
